Birthdays and sunshine!

Hi Friends!

What a nice time I am having this summer :)   It just doesn’t get better than berries, cherries, watermelon and corn on the cob.  Mommy says peaches are the best, and they are still yet to come!  We’ve had some fun adventures this last week or so.  First of all, we celebrated daddy’s birthday 3 (!) times… which meant 3 cakes!  How did daddy get so lucky?  I got to help mommy make one of them.  I was a bit scared of the machine but then mommy taught me that it was called a beater.  I said it lots and felt much better.  Then as soon as daddy got home I had to tell him what we did.  I yelled out "daddy cake!  daddy cake!"  to greet him :)   My party is coming up soon and I think I should get 3 cupcakes so daddy and  I will be even.

Last weekend I got to spend two sleeps at grandma Deane’s house.  What a great time we had!  It was Redmond Derby Days so we got to watch a parade and collect candy and toys as the parade people threw them at us!  There was a marching band and I LOVED the drums.  Now I say "boom boom!" every time I see something that looks remotely like a drum mallet…say, a honey dripper for example.  I was at grandma’s because mommy and daddy went to Oregon to participate in Relay for Life with their friends Taeryn and Luke.  I was sorry I didn’t get to go, but I had a blast without them :)

We’ve had our typical excursions to the zoo, but we added some swimming to our week as well.  Friday we played at the wading pool down the street.  What fun!  The theme for the day was SHARING.  I say SHARE all the time when we talk about my toys, but what mommy doesn’t understand is that when I say I want to SHARE, I mean I want a turn with all my toys, and everyone else’s :)   The wading pool was tricky that way, but we had fun anyway.

Then today we went to the beach for the low tide with grandpa Bob.  We saw such great stuff!  We saw a HUGE crab playing in the sand, and some lovely big herons.  Other than that I really just preferred to play in the water and the wet sand.  I topped my boots and didn’t even care!

Now daddy is finishing the staining on our new deck with grandma and grandpa and cousin Emily.  I’ll post a picture in my next note.  Enjoy the sunshine!

Poo-taste… and other good things!

Hi Friends!

Oh my goodness.  I completely missed June updates.  You’ll just have to follow along with my photos (there are 2 new folders).  I think the problem is that the sun is so shiny and I am talking so much all of a sudden that I can’t be bothered to sit down and type.  Sorry about that!

June was a great month, as you’ll see by my pictures.  I got a new bike seat and helmet so I can ride with mommy and daddy now.  That’s really fun.  We like to ride to the park and play :)   I got to go to my friend Lily’s 2nd birthday party and play with LOTS of big bubbles.  I played dress up with Silas.  I went to the rose garden with grandma and uncle Ryan right after the rain, which was really fun!  For father’s day I took daddy to the beer festival again this year.  Unfortunately I didn’t get much of a nap that day but I did enjoy running around on the play equipment at the festival.  What else?  Grandma and mommy took me and Silas to the zoo!  It was fun to go with my buddy.  Mommy and I get to go to the zoo all the time, but it was fun to bring a friend :)

Then…. drum role please…. I got a hair cut!  The curls were cool, but really my head was too hot all the time.  Didn’t grandma do a great job?  All she had to do was give me a carrot :)

The big news of course, is that we took a big camping trip last weekend!  What fun!  Grandma Deane came with us, and so did Nick, Kathy, Kale, and my favorite person Noah!  I said "Noah" all weekend long.  He is great.  What a big boy.  We got to go to the game farm and feed bread to the animals, and play on the beach, and have camp fires, and not take baths!  It was great.  And it was daddy’s birthday so grandma made him a delicious and beautiful cake.  I have to say that I really liked sleeping in the tent.  Maybe daddy will set it up in the back yard sometime.

So, that’s a summary of my adventures but I have a few other tidbits to share:

  • I am REALLY turning on the talking now.  Little sentences and everything!  Mommy’s favorite word I say is "poo-taste".  I guess I pronounce it a little funny… it is spelled t-o-o-t-h-p-a-s-t-e.  Poo-taste.
  • I love kissing.  I say "mmmmma!" and lay big ones on Silas any chance I get.
  • My birthday is exactly a month away!  I’m going to be 2!
