Walking, teething, surfing… oh my!

Hi Friends!

Where did October go?  Good thing mommy and I already picked out my Halloween costume because Halloween is here!  Zowie!  Last year I was a pumpkin, and although I LOVE real pumpkins, that costume is way too baby-ish for me now.  I am a big boy… so I’m going to be a bumblebee!  Obviously mommy had significant influence in the costume choice :)   I’m cool with it, but I wish my costume had a stinger!

On to the news.  I guess the biggest change these days is that on Mondays mommy and I take care of a little boy named Silas.  He is almost exactly my age, but he is a bit bigger.  We have fun together!  We do lots of playing and reading and yelling and stuff.  And guess what?  The first time Silas came over he taught me to walk!  He is already walking but I am older than him by 2 weeks so I decided it was time to kick it into high gear and work on my strut.  And you know what?  It isn’t as hard as it looks!  The balance part is a little tricky (I am a bit wobbly most of the time) and I’m still faster when I’m crawling, but I’m getting better every day.

And guess what I did this month… flew in an airplane!  It was a high adventure, that’s for sure.  Daddy, mommy and I flew to Hawaii for a week to go to a wedding.  It was so great!  I tried my best to be a good boy on the plane, and on the way home I slept the whole way.  I think mommy and daddy were proud of me :)   In Hawaii we got to stay in a HUGE house right on the beach with a bunch of mommy and daddy’s friends.  The house had its own swimming pool and I could hear the waves on the beach in my room.  It was wonderful!  Hawaii was full of new experiences, like finding a Portuguese Man o’ War during my first swim in the ocean (don’t worry; mommy and daddy freaked out but I was totally fine!  It didn’t get me at all!); going on hikes along the shore and in the jungle; and even boogie boarding!  Unfortunately mommy and daddy were both spotting me so no-one got any photos of that, but trust me, it was awesome.  I also got to eat wedding cake!  Delish!

Other things that have happened this month: I got 2 more new teeth without anyone noticing; I got WAY better at walking; I learned to say Uh-Oh!; and I got to go to the pumpkin patch with mommy, daddy and grandma Deane.  We had planned to take a nice family photo in the pumpkins so we wore cute matching outfits and stuff, but I had another idea.  I had a monster blow out diaper (first one since I was a tiny baby!) so I had to change into my Halloween costume that just happened to be in the car :)   I’m so sneaky!  I’ll have to pull out that trick more often.

Anyhoo, that is my month in a nutshell.  There are lots of photos in my gallery; you should check them out.  Tonight is Halloween, so I’ll try to post again soon to tell you about it.  This morning mommy and I cut out some bats and colored on them with white crayons and taped them to the window for the trick or treaters to see.  SPOOKY!  More soon…

The Wedding!

Hi Folks!

Oh my.  I’m sorry for being away so long.  It looks like our sunshine is gone and fall is here, so maybe I’ll be able to sit down and type more often… maybe.  I imagine once I can walk I’ll be a puddle-jumper, so fall and winter might not be so bad!  Hey and check out my new shoes!

September was a busy month with lots of fun things going on, the biggest of which was Uncle Ryan’s wedding!  I don’t have too many photos since I was busy enjoying myself, but trust me, it was a super duper wedding.  We went to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner the Thursday beforehand and it was so great!  I got to stay up way past my bedtime AND I got to eat pub food!  Nachos and fried mushrooms.  I could live on that stuff!  If only they would give me a beer.  Anyway, I pooped out around 8 or 8:30 and we went home.  Then on Saturday we went to the main event, and even though the weather didn’t cooperate, it was a BEAUTIFUL wedding.  I got to see grandpa Steve and Ann, my great Aunt and Uncle and cousin from California, my great Uncle from Toronto, and grandma Deane’s cousin from Michigan (is that my 3rd cousin?  who am I kidding, I can’t even count), AND of course Uncle Ryan and Aunt Emily looking absolutely fantastic!  I love them so much!  Here is a nice photo of mommy with Uncle Ryan.

Other than that we’ve just been doing the regular stuff.  Mommy and I have been logging lots of hours at the zoo.  I think we’ve been at least once a week for the past several weeks.  Love that zoo membership!  It is a great place to go even when the weather is bad because there are lots of indoor things to do and see.  I love getting out of my stroller and seeing the animals up close through the glass, and I love playing at the Zoomazium.  Last time we were there they turned on some fun music and brought out all these rattles and instruments for us to play!  It was fantastic!

Have I mentioned that I am a climber?  My favorite thing  to do is to climb up onto the step stool, then onto the recycling bin, so I can stand up and play in the garbage can!  Yahoo!  I am also a big fan of the diaper pail these days.  All things yucky… I love ‘em.

Oh, and here is our yearly "12th man" photo.  Looks pretty similar to last year doesn’t it?  Except of course I am way bigger and my hair is much longer :)   But I did manage to fit into the same pair of socks.  GO SEAHAWKS!  No really… GO!

I’ve also been pretty cute in the bath lately if I do say so myself :)   Daddy says it is time for a haircut, and though mommy is resisting, I think I’ll get one soon.  We get to go Hawaii in a week or so for a wedding (YAHOO!) and I have to keep my surfer ‘do until then (gotta look cool on the beach) but maybe I’ll get a trim when we get home.

Other than that I have just been busy getting into things and cruising the furniture.  I am ALMOST walking, but I think I’m just too scared to take the leap.  I can take a step or two, but then I sit down.  I’m still a baby, aren’t I?  I don’t know, walking would be fun I suppose, but I just don’t know about it yet.  I’ll keep you posted…

I can’t wait for tomorrow because I get to spend the night at grandma Deane’s house!  Yahoo!   We always have such a fun time together.  Mommy and daddy are going to a fancy auction or something.  In fact, now that I have been blogging for more than a year, some events are repeating themselves.  They did this last year, and bought me a photo shoot at the auction :)   I wonder what I’ll get this year…

Anyhoo, that’s all for now.  Be sure to check out my gallery for more cuteness (if you can stand it :) )!  Things I am looking forward to: Halloween (you should see my costume!); pumpkin patches; Hawaii; running circles around mommy and daddy (I am so close!) :)
