Guess who is 1… ME!

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Hello to my loyal fans and occasional visitors!

I’m sorry for the delayed post, especially since my big birthday photos were delayed as well.  My only excuse is that it has been hot, so I haven’t felt like sitting in front of the computer upstairs in our toasty house :)   Anyhoo, here I am with the update.

Well, the first thing that happened since I last wrote was that I got to spend the whole night at grandma Deane’s house without mommy and daddy!  We had a super slumber party!  Mommy and daddy went to a wedding in Bellingham where daddy was the officiant.  At first I didn’t understand how daddy was going to marry Scott and Larae… he is already married to mommy!  But the next day mommy and daddy came home together without Scott and Larae, so everything must have turned out fine.

Then the very next day was my big day!  I turned 1 year old!  What a fun day we had.  In the morning I got to open my presents from mommy and daddy including this fantastic truck.  I love it!  The buttons honk and beep and rev, and I can walk behind it!  Then in the afternoon we had my birthday party.  Lots of people came over, and I do mean lots!  I was a little out of sorts at first, but I had a great time destroying my cupcake and opening my presents.  Thanks everyone for celebrating with me!

The next day was my 12 month doctor appointment and once again with those darn shots!  This time they were really awful actually, I cried pretty hard.  But the good news is that I have officially climbed out of the 5th percentile for weight into the 10th!  I weighed 19 lbs 11 oz!  And I am 29 inches long!  Time for a new car seat.  I still have to wait a little longer before I can face forward, but just 7 oz to go.  I think I can hold out.

I’m still keeping my thoughts to myself when it comes to talking.  I babble up a storm but I’m keeping the real words in my head for now.  I think mommy and daddy are getting a little concerned about that, but they shouldn’t worry.  I’m just saving the words up so I can unleash them in sentences and wow my friends :)

The cruising is coming along really well.  Here I am checking out the guy who came to wash our windows.  I can even stand up from the middle of the floor without holding anything.  I only do it once in a while, but I could bust it out anytime.  I think walking will be great.  I can’t wait!

Well gosh, this is getting long already and I have lots more to say!  I’ll have to shorten it up a bit.  For two weeks while daycare was on summer vacation I got to hang out at grandma Deane’s house!  Now that was fun!  Grandma has all kinds of toys and books, she takes me to see the ducks, and she even set up a pool on her patio for me to play in.  It was fantastic!  Last week I was back at daycare and it just wasn’t the same.  In fact, I was pretty grumpy about the whole thing.  Hopefully this week I’ll be a little better adjusted.  Maybe I was just grumpy because I am getting another tooth.  I have 5 now, but the 6th is on the way.  I can’t believe I have 14 baby teeth left to go!  Teething is a bummer.

Last weekend mommy and grandma Deane hosted a bridal shower at our house for aunt Emily.  Daddy and I had to get out of the house so we went to the wading pool at Greenlake.  It was pretty fun.  When we got home the party wasn’t quite over and we got to see this fantastic cake!  What is with me and cake?  I never get to have any!  Well, I guess I did at my birthday and it was well worth the wait :)

I guess the only other news is that our playground at the end of the street finally re-opened and it is SUPER!  They have baby swings and great area made for little kids my size.  Oh and there are wood chips!  Everywhere!  Wood chips are yummy, though mommy doesn’t like me to eat them…

Oh and one more thing… my bum rash is TOTALLY gone.  Amazing.  Mommy and daddy decided to try me on no dairy for a while and switched me to soy formula.  At the same time they made some changes with diaper cream, and after 3 weeks my eczema it totally gone and my bum looks like a baby bum should look.  Yahoo!  Now the tricky part is determining whether it was really the dairy or the diaper cream changes.  I think I will try some dairy again in another few weeks to see what happens.  Soy just isn’t that good :)

Alright.  Gotta go.  I hope everyone enjoys the end of August!  I’ll try to write again soon.

What I did for mommy’s and daddy’s vacation…

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Hi everyone!

Isn’t summer super?  I just love it.  We’ve been having lots of fun.  Mommy and daddy even took last week off of work to play with me, which was fantastic!  More on that in a minute.  Since I wrote last we’ve done some fun stuff, so here is the update:

My friend Atticus turned 1 year old last weekend so we went to his birthday party.  What fun!  Atticus has the best house for playing.  It is like a baby-proofed toy store!  I just played and played for hours!  Atticus got to have his birthday cupcake in his high chair all by himself.  What a big boy!  He is already walking too.  I’m working on it, but I’m sure not there yet.  There were lots of babies at the party so we took a picture of all of us on the couch.  Aren’t we cute!!!  What, you don’t recognize me?  That’s me standing on the couch with my back to the camera :)   I like to keep mommy and daddy guessing.

That same weekend Aunt Sandie from daycare had a barbeque for all us kids at her house.  We had lots of fun chasing bubbles and drawing with chalk on the driveway.  I mostly watched and tried to eat chalk, but it was nice.  Mommy and daddy got to meet the other mommies and daddies too, so that was nice.  Sandie will be on summer vacation for the next two weeks so I get to go to grandma Deane’s when mommy goes to work!  Yahoo!  We are going to have a blast.

Oh yeah, we also visited uncle Ryan and aunt Emily’s new house!  It is so great!  We forgot to take pictures, but trust me, it is a nice place.  I even got to test out my new seat that hooks onto the table for eating on the go.  I’m pretty messy when I use it, but it will work out pretty well I think.

This past week mommy and daddy didn’t go to work and instead we took a trip to Ocean Shores with grandma Deane.  What an adventure!  It was a long drive, but I did a great job being a good boy in the car.  Grandma and I played in the back seat, and I got sit up front when we stopped for a break.  Unfortunately it was rainy on our first day, but the rest of the trip was just beautiful.  We stayed in a great condo that was perfect for us.  I could crawl around wherever I wanted, including the balcony!  It was super.  Then of course we went to the beach to play in the sand and waves.  We saw horses and lots of people, and kites, and even pelicans!  It was a great trip.  Grandma stayed with me a few times while mommy and daddy went out, but they were never gone too long.  We had such a nice place that they just wanted to be home with us hanging out!

Then yesterday was a big day….Mommy’s birthday!  Daddy and I woke up early and made breakfast in bed for mommy.  She requested a perfect peach and that’s what we served.  And coffee of course.  And blueberries (my favorite!) which mommy shared with me :)   Then we went for a high adventure… we rode the duck!  You know, the tourist vehicle that goes on the street and in the water?  We did that for mommy’s birthday.  We got to blow on these yellow quackers (I didn’t quite figure it out, but I sure thought they were funny!) and see the whole city.  It was such a beautiful day; it made for a nice trip.  I got tired of the wind midway through and had to snuggle up with mommy for a few minutes, but then when I realized we were on Lake Washington I perked right up again.

That afternoon grandma came over and mommy and daddy were gone when I woke up from my nap.  Grandma said they went for a ride on the motorcycle!  It has been hiding under a cover since before mommy was even pregnant with me!  I’ve never even seen it!  Anyway, they took a nice ride apparently and then daddy dropped mommy off for a birthday massage.  Grandma put me to bed while they went out for dinner, and then the three of them had cake together after I went to sleep.  Bummer.  I always miss out on the cake!

But guess what!?!??  MY birthday is coming up in a week and I am getting cake no matter what!  I can’t wait.  I am having a big party with lots of friends and family members.  I think it will be great.

Anyhoo, I think that’s about all for now.  Oh, and mommy and daddy have been going crazy lately with baby gates.  Our house looks like a cage at the zoo!  They say it is all in the name of safety.  Whatever.  They just don’t like it when I climb up the stairs by myself.  They are scaredy-cats!

More soon!
