I’m getting started on this post the day before Father’s Day, but I’m feeling pretty pooped and I imagine I won’t quite get it done until tomorrow…so Happy Father’s Day daddy! I love you lots and lots.
The last couple of weeks have been pretty busy a usual. I just made a little list of everything I should update you on… and it isn’t so little! I guess I should just dive right in.
Two weeks ago I got to spend some quality grandparent time. Grandma Deane came out for breakfast with us, and then grandma Valorie and grandpa Bob went for a walk with us around Greenlake. What fun! I don’t know what happened to our summer weather but the sunshine we had a few weeks ago had definitely disappeared for our walk. The hat I am wearing was uncle Ryan’s when he was a baby! My great grandma Jo made it for him
Then on Monday mommy took me to the zoo to see the animals. The giraffes were putting on quite a show by bumping into each other and rubbing each other with their necks! It was pretty cool. Actually, we’ve been doing the "kids stuff in Seattle" circuit this last week. In addition to the zoo, we went to the
Seattle Children’s Museum and the Seattle Aquarium! It has really been a lot of fun. We went to the museum with my PEPS friends and got to crawl (!) around in the baby area. We had a good time with the sparkly balls, crazy mirrors and kelp forest.
And did you notice I said crawl? I can do it! Well… sort of. I really only crawl with one of my legs; I sort of shove with the other foot. At daycare they call me a crab crawler
But I can move! Yahoo! I did it for the first time the other day when mommy put some Cheerios on the floor for me where I couldn’t reach them. I showed her! I just hauled myself over to them and ate them up!
Anyway, back to my story. As if the zoo and children’s museum weren’t enough, last Monday we got to go to the aquarium! It was really fun. We don’t have any pictures because it was just me and mommy and I was in the moby wrap so she couldn’t really get any pictures of me with the fishies, but that’s ok. I really like looking at the tropical fish in the tanks, and the river otters! The trouble with the trip to the aquarium was that my teeth were really hurting me. I had a nice time at the aquarium, but the drive there and drive home were just awful because all I had to think about was how much my mouth hurt! I cried. But the good news is that the next day I welcomed my third tooth into the world! A top one this time.
I am also starting to pull up on stuff so I can stand up. I’m still a bit wobbly, but I’m sure I’ll get better. Here I am standing over a little stool. I can do it on higher things too, but not too often yet
Peek-a-boo is another fun thing. I like to help mommy with the laundry and hold up the clothes in front of my face. Mommy says, "where’s Oscar?" Then I laugh and show her that I am right there!
Last Thursday was a pretty big day for me. I went to mommy’s office with her in the morning because she had to go to a meeting even though it was her day off. I got to meet her friend Melissa who took me to the swings at the park nearby. I was really sleepy because I hadn’t had my morning nap yet, but we had fun and I tried to be a good boy. Then mommy took me to visit grandma Deane at work since we were nearby. She wanted me to meet EVERYONE at her school, but when I did… everyone seemed to know me already! I think grandma talks about me a lot at her job
After that mommy and I went to our last swimming class of the session, and then finally home for a nap. It was a busy day!
Anyway, I guess those are the highlights for the last couple of weeks. Oh and grandma Deane came to babysit me a few times, which is always fun. She gave me a bath in the kitchen sink and we got to play with my hair! It was so funny!
And finally, since it is Sunday now I can officially tell you about our Father’s Day today. Mommy and I got up early so we could get daddy’s presents and his breakfast ready (though I think we really got up early because I woke mommy up!). I even got to wear a special t-shirt that said how much I want to be like daddy when I grow up (check it out in the gallery).
Then grandpa Bob and grandma Valorie came over and we went to the Washington Brewers Festival (that means beer). It was a beautiful day and I tried to be really good boy. There were lots of people to look at and lots of kids too. I took a couple of naps while mommy carried me in the Ergo carrier, and all in all it was a great day. Daddy and grandpa had fun celebrating their jobs as daddies.
Then we came home and everyone had some barbequed chicken (except me!). I just ate my baby food.
Oh yeah, and one other thing I was going to tell you… I have a diaper rash. A bad one. I went to the doctor a couple times and they decided it was eczema and gave me some medicine. It had completely gone away mid-week… but now it is back worse than ever! Mommy and daddy are afraid it is from something I am eating. I don’t know but it sure is sore! Just thought I’d throw that out there in case anyone has a solution for me
Talk to you all again soon!
