Just 10 days… and I’m writing again!

Hi friends!

I’m proud to say I’ve managed to write another entry and it hasn’t even been two weeks.  I’m trying to be better about keeping you all up to date.  I’ve received complaints from my fan club about posts being long overdue.  Anyway, here I am.

This past week I’ve enjoyed lots of fun food time.  I’ve realized that if I grab the spoon, or even grab the food out of my own mouth, I can squish it around and make a real mess if I want to!  Mommy thinks its so funny that she takes my picture a lot :)   Oh, and I should tell you that my tastes are expanding.  Carrots… not so bad afterall!  Peas are good, sweet potatoes taste great, but they made me barf two times.  Mommy and daddy say we’ll wait a while before trying again.  I’ve also convinced them to give me thin slices of banana now and then instead of all mashed up.  Good fun!

And if you think mommy takes lots of pictures of me, you should see the rest of my family!  Paparazzi I tell you!  On Sunday we went to Auntie Anne’s house for breakfast… for Easter!  I didn’t catch a glimpse of the bunny this year, but next year I’ll be on a mission.  Anyway, we had a great morning with Auntie Anne, Uncle Jason, Grandpa Bob, Grandma Valorie, cousin Colin, Rory, and Rory’s sweet sister who played with me all morning!  Grandma gave me a family of rubber duckies for the bath.  They are so fun!  The babies are the perfect size to chew on.

Then in the afternoon we went to Grandma Deane’s house and saw Uncle Ryan and Aunt Emily.  The Easter Bunny brought me all kinds of fun stuff including a bunny hat, a stuffed bunny, and chicky rattle, and a cute little t-shirt.  What fun!  We had a nice corned beef dinner (just bananas for me) and went home pooped that evening.

This week has been pretty typical so far.  Eating, playing, sleeping… the usual stuff.  Mommy and I went to the zoo on Monday which is always fun, and today we went swimming.  Next week is the first day of my new swimming class for bigger babies.  I can’t wait!

I suppose that’s about it for now.  I’ll try to write again soon if I have news :)

They’re magically delicious…my toes, that is!

My culinary adventures have continued the last few weeks….holy guacamole!  When I first tried avacado at home I have to admit it wasn’t my favorite, though since then I’ve had a real hankerin’ for restaurant guacamole.  That is some good grub!  I got to try it at grandma Deane’s birthday and it was really delicious.  But to back up, I know, I haven’t written for far too long.  Busy life of a baby I guess.  I’ve been keeping busy with new foods like pears, broccoli (yuck), squash (delicious!), carrots (terrible!) and potato (of the french fried variety… yahoo!).  Foods have been fun so far, though every once in while mommy and daddy sneak something new in on me, so I’ve become rather skeptical of the spoon.  Tiny tastes only, thank you very much.

I suppose I have a lot to cover in a month.  One exciting thing…we are now members of the zoo!  We have been two times now and I really like it.  Here are mommy and me watching the elephants.  The first day we went on a weekend and it was really busy with kids and parents and grandparents and such, but the next time mommy and I went on a Thursday and we had the whole place to ourselves!  We saw the tiger and the lions, and even the hippos were walking around.  This giraffe came out especially to say hi.  I am looking forward to going back again soon.

Grandma Deane and I have had some play time together over the last several weeks, so that has been fun.  She has lots of great toys and she even let me help her bake cookies!  We go on walks in the pram and visit the ducks along the river trail.  Good times.

A couple of weeks ago mommy and daddy and I went down to visit Grandma Valorie and Grandpa Bob, the puppies, and the piggy.  We had a nice time.  We even went out for lunch at the bakery… the same location that mommy and daddy broke the big news that I was on the way last year!

We met up with my friend Colin and his parents Tanya and Craig for breakfast a few weeks ago and a walk around the lake.  Mommy and daddy were inspired by the walk to join them for the St. Patrick’s Day Dash last Sunday.  More on that in a minute…

The biggest and best thing that happened this month was that I found my toes!  Why didn’t anyone tell me I had such wonderful tasty toys attached to my legs?!  I find them a little hard to reach when I’m in my bulky cloth diaper, but when I spring free of my clothes I go for the toes first thing.  Mommy jokes that I can fold myself completely in half :)

I got to visit daddy at work for the first time a couple of weeks ago.  I think he was proud to show me off.  Grandma Deane was babysitting and her house is right by his office, so we stopped in.  The ladies in the office seemed especially excited to see me.  I guess I’m kind of a charmer :)

This week hasn’t been my best, unfortunately.  I got a cold at the end of last week and have been coughing and sneezing like crazy.  It is finally going away, but mommy keeps trying to wipe my nose when I sneeze.  I hate that!  I guess the good news is that I got to test out my new humidifier.  It is pretty cool; the noise it makes helps me sleep I think.

And finally, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Yesterday we went downtown early in the morning (well, not that early… I was up at 5:15 am and we didn’t leave until 7 am) for the St. Patrick’s Day Dash.  What fun!  We brought the stroller and did the 3 1/2 mile race with our friends Colin, Tanya and Craig, and a bunch of other people.  Some of them were in some pretty crazy St. Paddy’s Day costumes.  We just wore green.  Here we are at the start of the race.  And of course what would a St. Paddy’s Day celebration be without a trip to pub afterward :)   It was an exhausting morning, but the weather was great and it was nice to be outside and see all the people.

And I think that’s about it.  I am getting better and better at sitting up by myself, though I still need a little support now and then.  I can roll over when I want to, but I don’t usually want to.  Other than that, I’m just doing my thing.  This weekend I’ve heard that a rabbit with chocolate eggs will be visiting… I’m not sure what that’s about but it sounds fun :)
