My first joke

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

How quickly the time goes by when you’re a little baby.  The past few weeks, I’ve been learning to sleep a little bit better, and have been a happier baby.  I think I’m finally starting to get used to this whole baby gig, and am able to enjoy the sights and sounds and tastes and smells of the outside world.

Last week, Atticus and his mom Karla came over to visit.  We met them at our PEPS group.  Atticus is a few weeks older than me, but he is a fun baby and I hope that we can be friends.   He also has a pretty cool hairdo.

A couple of days ago, I got to experience a holiday that mommy and daddy call Thanksgiving.  The whole family came over to our house and we had a nice big meal.  Mommy even gave me the last of the breastmilk as my Thanksgiving feast.  We all had a great time, and everyone wanted to have a turn holding me so I was passed from person to person after dinner.  Oh yeah, and you know what my first joke was?  I spit up down Grandma Deane’s cleavage during Thanksgiving dinner!  Ha ha!  Everyone (including Grandma)  thought it was a really good one.

Yesterday, mommy and Grandma Deane took me shopping!  I had a great time in my stroller (even if I had to snooze a couple of times), and we successfully navigated through the crowds.  I think mommy even bought me some presents for a holiday that people have been talking about called Christmas!  Mommy and daddy asked me what I wanted and helped me put a wish list together on Amazon.com.

Mommy will be going back to work part-time in a couple of weeks, so we’re starting to get ready for my new adventure–day care!  I get to play with 5 other kids three days a week.  I’m going to be the youngest, and I think it is going to be fun!  We’re having a Christmas party and everything!

Well, that’s all for now!

New Adventures…

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Well the big news is that today I am 3 months old!  And I think I am close to 11 lbs :)   Mommy and daddy call me their big boy, so that must be good.  This week has been full of adventures and new experiences like movies, swimming, and bathtime with daddy!

I thought taking a bath with mommy was fun, but that was before I got to have bathtime with daddy!  Daddy is so funny!  He makes funny faces at me and makes me smile.  We had a great time.  Hopefully we’ll be doing more of that :)

On Thursday mommy took me to Mother’s Day Movies.  Once a week they show movies for moms and babies in strollers during nap time.  The lights are a little brighter than usual and the volume is a bit lower, and they even brought popcorn to mommy in our seat!  I stayed awake for the first few minutes of Bee Movie, but then I just had to have a snooze.  What a high adventure!

Then yesterday mommy took me swimming!  We went to a pool especially for babies with very warm water and we got to splash around and play.  I even got my own swim diaper.  Unfortunately mommy forgot the camera, but next time we have to take pictures.

Today mommy and grandma Deane took a little escape to the spa while daddy and I went to visit grandma Valorie and grandpa Bob.  We even picked up Uncle Tom on the way!  I had never been to grandma and grandpa’s house before, so that was fun.  I got to meet the puppies,  eat my lunch with grandma and grandpa, and I almost got to meet the pig, but she wouldn’t come out of her house.  They sure live far away!  I did my best to sleep on the way there, but on the way home I just had to cry a bit.  I don’t like my car seat!

Tomorrow mommy and I are going to a baby shower for another baby who is about 3 weeks older than me.  I can’t wait to meet him!  More news soon.

Trick or Treat!

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Happy belated Halloween!  What a fun holiday.  I can’t wait until I have some teeth so I can have some candy too!  Mommy and daddy and I have been busy the last couple of weeks, but we haven’t taken too many pictures… so it is hard to remember what we have been up to.

Last week mommy and I went back to the lactation consultant for more help with feeding.  I just can’t seem to do it exactly like they want me to.  Oh well, the bottles work for me.  I think mommy has decided to stick with that, which is fine by me.  Now she can spend her time playing with me instead of hanging out with the breast pump :)

We had a busy weekend last weekend with lots of social engagements.  We went to a housewarming party for some new people I hadn’t met yet, Tanya and Craig and their son Colin.  I was asleep for most of the visit, but I hear they live nearby so hopefully we will see them again soon and I will get to play with Colin.  After that I screamed my way over to a birthday party for Kirsty at a fun restaurant that makes one thing well…. fried chicken!  Again, I slept through most of it but mommy and daddy said the food was great.

On Sunday grandma Deane came over to play with me while mommy and daddy carved our pumpkins for Halloween!  I can’t wait until I am big enough to carve my own.  What fun!  Then daddy and I watched football while mommy went for a walk with her friend Kathy.

This week we hosted our parents’ group meeting and it was on Halloween, so we got to see all the big kids trick or treating and we got to dress up in our own costumes!  Four out of five of us decided to go as pumpkins, while Lily chose a smashing ladybug costume.  I was a little too tired for the group photo and accidentally had a bit of a meltdown, but mommy and daddy thought I was cute just the same.

Next week I think mommy and I might try to go to the movies!  There is a theatre in Bellevue that shows movies at 10am on Thursdays specifically for moms and babies.  They turn down the sound and turn up the lights a little, and take popcorn orders at your seat!  I think my job is to sleep while mommy gets to watch the show… we’ll see about that.  Other than that we have been taking lots of walks since the weather has been dry, and meeting other moms and babies at a mom’s group.

More news later!
