New wheels!

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Well lately I have been in the habit of writing just once a week, but this week mommy and I had such a fun thing happen that I just had to write mid-week… my new stroller arrived!  What fun!  Mommy has been anxious to have a stroller so we can go on walks and be outside before the weather gets too yucky.  I didn’t really understand what all the fuss what about until I got to go for a ride!  Sweet wheels!  My seat is really more like a bed, so I just get to snooze while I enjoy the vibrations of the sidewalk and the sound of the birds.  Good stuff!  You can tell from my pictures that I was having fun :)

Otherwise, so far the week has been good.  Tonight Uncle Nick and Aunt Kathy are coming over and bringing dinner for mommy and daddy, and for me as a result.  I hope I can stay away to play with them!  Then this weekend I have my first big adventure overnight away from home… we are going to a wedding!  I don’t really know what that means but mommy and daddy said we have to get dressed up and I should try not to spit up on them.  I think it was a dare.  I’ll post some pictures when we get home.

That’s all for now.

Once again I have had an eventful week.  Last weekend mommy and daddy and I were invited for breakfast with grandma Deane.  She has such fun stuffed animals and toys for me to look at!  We had a nice time.  Then in the afternoon we went to a housewarming party for Aunt Kathy and Uncle Nick.  Daddy was happy to see that the football game was on, but unfortunately our team lost at the last minute.  I cried.

Tuesday mommy and I went to our mom and baby group meeting again.  There weren’t as many babies as last time, but it was still a lot of fun.  Mommy seems to really enjoy talking with other moms.  Then when it was time to go I guess I had a bit of an adventure.  To tell the truth I slept through the whole thing, but mommy told me about it and it sounded very exciting.  Mommy loaded me in the car in my car seat and tossed in the diaper bag, and just as she shut the door the whole car locked automatically with me inside… with the keys!  Mommy was apparently quite worried and found someone to call 911 for help.  Unfortunately the policeman that arrived said he could only break a window, he couldn’t help unlock the car.  Yikes!  Fortunately Pop-A-Lock came and let mommy into the car, no harm done.  And they did it for free!  Apparently if a child is locked in the car there is no charge.  As for me, I slept through the whole business including the car alarm.  I just woke up when mommy started the engine :)

Wednesday evening daddy and mommy and I started going to a new group called PEPS.  We go and hang out with other new babies and their parents and learn about stuff.  Again, I tend to nod off through the boring parts, but I liked meeting the other babies.  We are going to have the meeting at our house on Halloween!  Mommy and daddy said I can wear a costume and everything!  I can’t wait.  But I guess I’ll have to wait another year or two for the candy.  I don’t have teeth.

Thursday mommy and I went to visit a friend of mommy’s from graduate school and her baby Elias.  Elais is almost one year old; what a big boy!  He can almost walk by himself and everything.  We went for a walk and the mommies talked about stuff.  Again, I mostly snoozed.  Then Thursday evening was the big event… mommy and daddy’s 4th anniversary!  Grandma Deane came over to play with me while daddy and mommy went out for dinner to celebrate.  Unfortunately I hadn’t had the opportunity to shop for a gift for them, so I decided to sleep an extra hour and a half that night.  Mommy was so happy and well rested!  I guess I should do that more often… nah!

Saturday was another nice day.  We visited the farmer’s market as usual, and then went over to Grandma Deane’s house in the evening for dinner with my Great Uncle Len!  He came all the way from Toronto just to see me!  We had a nice time and even went to see a cyclo-cross race.  While the announcer wasn’t that interesting, the racers were really impressive.

And finally Sunday was… for football!  Grandma Valorie, Grandpa Bob and Cousin Colin came over to play with me and watch the Seahawks game.  I think Cousin Colin and Grandma Valorie weren’t all that interested in the football game (if you can imagine) but they were excited to see me.  They even brought apple-cinnamon rolls for daddy and mommy!  Someday I’ll get to try them.  Fortunately this weekend the Seahawks pulled through and won the game in an exciting finish!  Again, this is what I am told.  I accidently snoozed through the second half :)

Well I think that’s all for now.  I need to get some extra rest because I have been feeling a bit under the weathe since Saturday.  I seem to have a frog in my throat!  More next week…

This has been a busy week of football watching, visiting friends, going to the doctor, meeting other babies, and stroller shopping.  Whew!  Not to mention all that eating and packing on the ounces.

Last weekend mommy and daddy and I visited auntie Kathy and uncle Nick’s new house.  They have a POOL!  I can’t wait until I can swim.  I’ll be spending my summers at their house.  Mommy and daddy thought the house was really nice and in a great spot by the water.  We are going back again tomorrow for a party!  Then last Sunday daddy taught me the important facts of life: Sundays are for football.  We cheered and daddy clapped and hollered for his teams.  I can’t quite clap yet, but I am learning the finer points.

Then on Monday I visited my doctor again and again I pleased the crowd… 7 lbs 1 oz!  Mommy thinks by now I may be close to 8 pounds at that rate.  The doctor said I still need to eat my fortified milk for a little while longer, but soon it will be a lot easier for mommy and daddy because I won’t have to have a bottle anymore.  Monday was also my 1-month birthday!  And I passed my due date, so I am officially full term as of the 7th.  I don’t know what that means, but everyone seems happy about it.

During the week mommy and I hung out around the house, ran some errands, and went to a great group meeting!  It was full of other new babies and mommies.  Mommy says we get to go once a week, so maybe we’ll meet some new friends.

Today we took our usual trip to the Saturday farmers market, but for some reason lots of people noticed me today.  Mommy was carrying me in the wrap carrier as usual, but I guess my head was poking out more than usual because lots of people told her and daddy how cute I was :)   Then we went stroller shopping!  Mommy is especially excited for us to get a stroller so we can go on long walks.  I’ve never been in a stroller before… hopefully I will like it.  I don’t really like hanging out in my car seat; hopefully a stroller is more fun.

Tomorrow we are going to grandma Deane’s house for a quick breakfast and maybe a walk.  I might get to go for another ride in the pram!  Then this week I’m hanging out with mommy again during the day.  Mommy and daddy’s wedding anniversary is this week too, so I think grandma Deane is going to take care of me while mommy and daddy go out for a little while.  I’ll try to be good.
